Composite Nonwovens for Fusion into Laminates

Providing functional nonwoven layers for engineered laminate systems.

Geotextiles in Laminated Composite Materials

Laminated composite materials are designed to combine different technical layers into one functional product. By integrating a nonwoven geotextile into a laminate, manufacturers can add filtration, separation, drainage, protection or reinforcement properties to the final system.

Our needle-punched nonwoven geotextiles can be used as functional layers for fusion into laminates. Combined with membranes, films, grids, coatings or other technical materials, the nonwoven layer helps improve the performance, durability and handling of the finished composite.

In many applications, the nonwoven layer plays an important role in protecting sensitive surfaces with different mechanical characteristics. By offering adaptable nonwoven layers for integration into laminate systems, we support manufacturers and system integrators in developing durable, multifunctional composite materials for demanding markets.

Key Benefits

  • Adds geotextile functionality to laminated composite materials
  • Supports separation between materials with different characteristics
  • Supports filtration by retaining fine particles while allowing controlled flow
  • Contributes to drainage performance where water movement is required
  • Helps protect membranes, films or sensitive layers from mechanical stress
  • Can support reinforcement and dimensional stability depending on the system design

Example of a Layer Structure

In laminate systems, nonwoven geotextiles can be integrated in different positions depending on the final product design, application and required performance. The nonwoven layer may serve as a backing, protection layer, filter layer or functional core within the composite.

  • Outer technical layer
A membrane, film, coating, grid or textile layer that provides the main surface function of the composite.
  • Bonding or fusion interface
The zone where the nonwoven is connected to the adjacent technical layer to create a stable laminate structure.
  • Nonwoven geotextile functional layer
Integrated into the laminate to provide separation, filtration, drainage, protection or reinforcement depending on the application.
  • Optional secondary technical layer
Where required, an additional membrane, film, grid, coating or textile layer can be added to create a multifunctional composite.
  • Final application surface
The soil, structure, membrane, drainage system or technical product into which the laminate is installed or integrated.
